The moment Charyzah Esparrago of Quezon City bagged several special awards at the Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines 2025 coronation night, it was clear that the stars aligned for her eventual win.

A Communications Research graduate from the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Esparrago was crowned Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines 2025 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Pasay City on Friday, January 24, where she bested 13 other candidates.

“I felt really honored,” Esparrago told reporters after her coronation. “But honestly, I was surprised every single time because every girl worked so hard. They were all deserving. When the sash was on me, I felt all of the support and my hard work being recognized.”

Despite her strong performance, Esparrago said she never expected that she would win the title and simply wanted to “live in the moment” of representing Quezon City.

“I think it was just being in the moment. When I went on that stage, the only thing on my mind was you’re wearing a work of art and it’s your job to deliver it. Though there were awards up until they called my name, I really hoped it was me,” she said.

The Quezon City-based stunner is no stranger to pageants. She was crowned Binibining Quezon City Karunungan in 2020 and joined the Miss World Philippines pageant in 2022 where she was among the winners of the latter’s Head to Head Challenge.

Despite her experience, Esparrago said she put in a lot of effort in her Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines 2025 training.

“I did a lot of runway training, my main goal was that the first step on the stage was full of aura and exuded confidence. Rampa is different from pasarela. I was challenged at first, but at the end of the day, when we started coronation, I just trusted in my training,” she said.

The beauty queen also said that she’s looking forward to representing the Philippines at the Miss Supermodel Worldwide 2025 tilt, which will be held here sometime this year.

In a statement on Wednesday, the internet service provider said that Infinera would supply the submarine line terminal equipment, which facilitates the data transmission, for the fiber cable project.

While the reigning titleholder is Thea Casuncad from the Philippines, Esparrago is excited to raise the country’s flag.

“I am so excited for my first international pageant to be here in the Philippines. It is a great opportunity for our tourism. It’s a great chance to showcase our fashion designers, creatives, photographers, makeup artists, and hairstylists. They bring beauty to beauty pageants,” she said.

“Thea is such a wonderful model. These are big footsteps to follow. It’s a lot of pressure but it will make me work harder, train more, and hopefully, do my best on that stage to bag that crown,” Esparrago further added.

Esparrago, who moved back to the Philippines from Chicago, in the United States when she was 17 years old, said she entered pageantry after she was discovered at a food court in her mother’s hometown in Cebu.

“I was in the food court in Cebu and someone approached me and asked if I would like to [try] pageantry. I gave it some time, but I really wanted to take a risk and [develop] my confidence. I said yes, and since then, modeling and pageantry have been a part of my life,” she recalled.
